Student Spotlight: May 2011, Vanessa Maull
Vanessa Maull, Sussex Central High School
Ms. Maull has written about her participation with the Communities In Schools of Delaware program, On Track. With generous donations from WSFS Bank and Walmart, Communities in Schools of Delaware has partnered with Sussex Central High School and Delaware Technical and Community College to offer this innovative prepatory program.
The On Track program, offered as a three part course, teaches students life skills, tips on becoming a peer helper, and preparing for college life.
The first course, On Track I, focuses on the transition to college and demonstrates study skills for educational success. The second course, On Track II, teaches students skills for helping others. The last course, On Track III, assists with completion of the FASFA application process and the CPT college placement test. Students discover what they might want to study in college and look at their opportunities for post-secondary education.
